Caution
In the case of replacing the actual system by a component from a catalog, the configuration may not be perfect. Among others, the position of the observation surface is not necessary the best one. For instance, when inserting a lens, the observation surface may not be correctly located because the wavelength to be used afterwards is not the one used for the design and saved in the catalog or whatever. Therefore, it is recommanded to check the parameters (especially, aperture, wavelengths, fields and distances) before starting analyzis or optimization.
This remark applies also for distances when inserting a component in an existing system.
Also, when inserting a component in an existing system, there are some cases where the chief ray propagation can not be calculated or some parameters from the initial system are changed to enable the chief ray to propagate. For instance, when inserting a component before an off-axis parabola with a 90 degrees offset which is defined as the aperture, the aperture calculation is no more possible after the insertion and the software automatically shifts the aperture to the first surface of the system.
================Important===============
The full shape of some molded lenses can not be represented. For these lenses, only the part involved in the light transmission is loaded.
