Caution A maximum of 5 variable parameters can be selected. For an improved efficiency of the optimization process, the variable parameters must be selected carefully. For instance, aspherical parameters are not relevant if the merit function considers only paraxial parameters (focal length and/or magnification). In the same way, a surface separating two media with the same refraction index has no effect on the rays propagation and its related parameters should not be considered as variable parameters for optimization.
