about
A plane and monochromatic wave interferes after being diffracted by two rectangular slits. The page calculates the divergence diva of the brightest band of the diffraction envelope and the interfringe divc of the interference pattern observed on a theoretical screen located at infinity as functions of the wavelength, the slits width and the distance between the slits centers.
Note that the computed values are only suitable for small angles. The interfringe of intereferences obtained on a screen at a given distance d from the slits is therefore the product divc x d.
