In a plane perpendicular to the propagation axis of an elliptical beam, the "equi-intensity" curves are elliptical. The cut-out of the intensity distributions along the small and large axis of such an ellipse are gaussian curves with different widths. The page calculates the relative intensity in the plan mentioned above as a function of the position given in a coordinate system made up of the small and large axes and of the half widths of the beam along these axes.
